This one of a kind vase is many things in one. Both sides are cohesive, sharing the themes of space and time, with the front being an actual functioning clock. Many parts of the creation process surprised even myself, particularly the record in the center above the clock gear. When the gold isn’t reflective, it looks uncannily like an eye, something I did not intend or even notice until I finished painting it.
The intricate designs on both sides have subtle but symbolic messages all throughout. I wanted to illustrate how space and time are illusions, and how life is like a movie reel that we are watching before our eyes. I could go through every symbolic detail, but I think it’s best to allow the viewer to see into it as deeply as they would like.
