The Mountaintop

- Winner of 3rd place in The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library’s 34th annual juried exhibition -
 
Four months of meticulous work created this drawing over the course of three years. Begun, set aside, and eventually completed, The Mountaintop reflects both patience and persistence. My extensive artistic process serves as my expression of gratitude for the Earth and the often-overlooked details of every day life.
 
The Mountaintop was inspired by a hike I took with my sister, where a sudden storm nearly convinced us to turn back around. We chose to keep going, and within minutes the rain cleared. We eventually made it to see one of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. This piece serves as a reminder that some of life’s most extraordinary moments often wait just beyond the storm.
 
The antique baroque frame is included, likely created between the 1920s and 1930s.
